Sierra Haley (nee Sleep) and her husband Matt Haley (Raymond and Pam) are the new owners of the wildly popular Real Deals store at 718 Davis Ave., which they purchased on April 4th from Cindy Roberts and Anne Greenwalt who had opened the store in 2021. Currently the business is undergoing a renovation to improve customer flow, add a second dressing room and to improve the aesthetics. It should be open for business sometime in May.
Real Deals grew out of a one room shop open only on Thursdays in Twin Falls, ID in 2004. It was a hobby of Carie Whittaker Kelsey and her husband Nate and sold home decor and accessories, but was so popular that Saturday hours were added in 2005 and it was given the name Real Deals on Home Decor. Soon all 5 of the Whittaker sisters had branch stores in various locations in the Northwest. Due to demand, Real Deals was franchised in 2006 and now has 69 stores in 19 states and 4 Canadian provinces. Corning’s store was numbered in the 30s and was one of the first in Iowa and remains the only store in a town with a population of less than 6,000. Sierra credits the welcoming and helpful atmosphere of Main Street Corning for her decision to invest in this enterprise.
She plans to have the same employees as the previous store and to be open Wednesday – Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-3. The store will focus on affordable home decor and women’s fashions, It joins several other local businesses to make Corning a true shopping destination.
