Corning Hotel Project - Alumni
When it’s time for your class reunion or perhaps when you come home to visit family or friends, what are your options on where to stay? As parents age and live in a smaller home or go to live in assisted living or nursing home facilities, where will you stay? Will you have to drive 30 minutes or more from an area hotel in order to visit? When a younger family member near our community passed away awhile back, I was visiting with the and friends after the visitation. During the conversation someone asked the others where they were staying. Most of the circle of 12 were staying in 3 different communities because they couldn't find lodging closer than 30 minutes away.
ACEDC Fund Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit in Adams County who focuses on projects that help both Corning and all of Adams County. They have completed research over the last several years as to the feasibility of building a hotel in the community. A 30-35 room hotel is not only feasible, but very much in need in Corning.
The two-story Corning Hotel will offer between 30-40 rooms equipped with two queen or one king bed, telephone, cable TV, refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and access to WiFi. The hotel has a breakfast/conference area and exercise room with concierge front desk services. The computer software system will allow guests both on-line and phone reservations. Typical convenience items, hot breakfast, concierge services and ice will be available.
(If you are not an alumni of Corning High School, but would like to support the project, you can put "0000" in the class year and fill out the form or you may contact Donna Hogan at email@example.com or Beth Waddle at 641-322-5229 or firstname.lastname@example.org.)
