Southwest Valley Schools

Welcome to the new Southwest Valley School District (SWV).  The district is completing its first year of whole grade sharing between the Corning Community School District and the Villisca Community School District.  While continuing some of the traditions of both schools, SWV is creating new ones as Timberwolf power has taken over Southwest Iowa.  Southwest ValleySchoools are located in the towns of Corning and Villisca, two of the most proud and progressive communities in the region. Pre-K through 12th grade students are served by dedicated professional instruction staff that averages in excess of 14 years of teaching experienceSouthwest Valley Timberwolf and a student-teacher ratio of 11:1.

Agreements with Southwestern Community College, Graceland University, Des Moines Area Community College and other area high schools provide upper level classes as well.  Many of the  students graduate with college credits.  A diverse selection of extracurricular activities adds to student resumes.

    Both communities offer tremendous support to students. Both have provided ball fields, telecommunications-distance learning classrooms, small experimental farm, modern musical classrooms, science labs, computer labs and new playground equipment.

 

Prescott Community School

Prescott Community School has been preparing area students for the future since 1870.  This Preschool through 6th grade school engages students in creative learning methods designed to bring out the Prescott Community Schoolbest in each student.  Class sizes are small and provide an excellent teacher to student ratio.  The preschool and daycare provide excellent services with wrap-around scheduling available to assist parents and provide quality care before and after regular school hours.  Their school pride continues to be shown in recent upgrades to the facilities.  For information about attending Prescott Schools contact them at 641-335-2211.
