We came to Adams County in the summer of 2000. It has so many resources that can be enjoyed and further developed. As a family with three children, we enjoy living in a small town that has a strong base of local businesses. Our main streets are clean and appealing to the eye. We have businesses that provide basic necessities and more with a personal touch. We also have businesses that provide opportunities for children and adults alike such as the dance studio, family arcade, fitness center, movie theatre, aquatic center and skate park.
Adams County also is the home of Lake Icaria, which provides recreational activities for not only Corning, but also draws people from southwest Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. Our children love boating, fishing and swimming at the Lake. We also like to camp there and explore the hiking trails. There are lots of activities for all ages through the Corning Youth Club, Happy Hollow Country Cub, Adams County Speedway, Aquatic Center, historic places, libraries and more.
Our family has appreciated the community and the support and interest they have shown for the area schools. Our school systems are progressive and dedicated to going the extra mile to provide each child a quality education.
The best tool our community has is its great people. Growing up in the city, it is easy to feel disconnected, but in Adams County a person can be a part of things. The people here are so willing to pitch in with community projects and help those in need.
