That’s right - for all you E-85 users, you can now find E-85 in Corning at the FSC Mart. With gasoline prices stuck in the upper range of the “pain at the pump” scale, many owners of flex fuel vehicles in the Hawkeye State have turned to a less expensive and cleaner-burning alternative – E85. During a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. special promotion and celebration on Friday, July 18, they can purchase up to 30 gallons at the flashback price of $2.85 a gallon at the FSC Mart at 408 6th Street in Corning, Iowa. To celebrate the opening of the first E85 station in the county, the Adams County Cattlemen will have their grill at the station, filling the air with the smell of grilled Iowa beef.
Other event supporters include the Iowa Clean Air Choice Team: General Motors, Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Kum & Go, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Stores of Iowa, Iowa Soybean Association, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, Iowa Biodiesel Board and American Lung Association of Iowa.

We’re looking forward to the 4th of July celebration. Sure hope the weather cooperates! We could all use a break from the rain. There are two choices for breakfast that day. You can breakfast at the Beach from 8 - 11:00 a.m. or attnd the Annual Flight Breakfast at the Corning airport from 6- 10 a.m. sponsored by the Adams Community Chamber. If the weather holds, hopefully we’ll have a lot of fly-ins. (If you fly in, you eat free!). At 9 a.m. the Sand Volleyball tournamen
t heats up down at the beach (You can contact Lindsay Wetzel at 641-322-3749 if you have team and want to play.) If you are age pre-school to 12 years, check out the Youth Fising Contest over at the marina from 10 - 12. They’ll have some prizes and then serve participants a hot dog lunch. I’m sure the beach will be a busy place with fun in the sun? At 5:30 p.m. you can register for the sand sculpturing contest at the beach and then watch all the creative people sculpt from 6-7 p.m. If you’d like to be out on the lake, but don’t have transportation, check out the pontoon rides at the Marina from 5:30 - 8 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. the Adams County Cattlemen will be cooking up some burgers and hot dogs for supper with proceeds going to support our local youth with scholarships. They’ll be serving until 9:00 p.m. By 7:00 p.m. the place will be jumping with music by DJ Brent Romer in the Main Shelter area and as soon as it gets dark, fireworks will be exploding and lighting up the night over the lake. You can see there’s lots of fun things to do this 4th of July in Adams County. Hope to see you there!
